STELLA POLARIS

Let us ponder upon the name “Stella Polaris” which means Pole Star – the one unchanging star in the northern hemisphere, the star by which the mariner steers his ship at night. We are told on spiritual authority that the Sages first brought the Ancient Wisdom to the northern regions of this planet, which at that time had a warm and congenial climate and a large population. We know this land as Hyperborea, the land of light. Later when this land become uninhabitable, the Sages migrated to the Himalayas, where they still dwell in secret places in the mountains. From there they direct and guide the destinies of man. Their symbol has ever been the six-pointed star – the Pole Star or Stella Polaris. This Star, as most of you know is at the centre of the Cross-within-the-Circle which forms the symbol of the Lodge and was originally given to us by White Eagle. It stands for the symbol of the Christ-spirit in Man, that spiritual Star by which the White Brethren seek to steer their souls across the turbulent ocean of life.
Are we not also told that a Star – presumably six-pointed, for this is the perfect Star – shone over the birth-place of Jesus, and guided the wise men and shepherds to find him?
Man has a three-fold nature of body, mind and spirit – or a physical, emotional and mental nature. This nature of man is symbolized in the Star by the up-pointed triangle and is permeated by the down-pointed triangle, signifying the threefold spiritual nature superimposed over the basic triangle. Thus is formed the perfect six-pointed star – man made perfect through the spirit of Christ permeating his being.
We have been told many times by White Eagle that he brings to earth a re-statement of the Ancient Wisdom, wherein the six-pointed Star signifies the perfectly balanced man who has developed the full Christ-consciousness within his inner life. Thus we maybegin tosee the reason for the title of our magazine, “Stella Polaris”.
